Glenn Greenwald, an American journalist, author, and former lawyer, is on record to have said, โThe purpose of whistleblowing is to expose secret and wrongful acts by those in power in order to enable reform.โ
2. On February 10th, 2025, President Trump halted enforcement of the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act (โFCPAโ) in an executive order, arguing the move would aid American business abroad. On March 13th, Stephen M. Kohn published an article, โCrippling the FCPA is Bad Business for the U.S.โ in the NYU Compliance and Enforcement Blog, arguing that the E.O. is based upon the inaccurate premise that the United Statesโ enforcement of the anti-bribery law unfairly cracks down on U.S. companies and harms their competitiveness in the global marketplace.
3. As we continue our podcast series on leadership, recent events in the US and elsewhere beg the question: how can we make a case that fostering whistleblower voices is good for business both in the public and private sectors in the US and the globe?
4. No one is more qualified to throw light on this vexing question than Ms Mary Inman, a partner at Whistleblower Partners LLP, a boutique law firm specialising exclusively in representing whistleblowers under various USA whistleblower reward programmes.
5. Mary Inman was previously a long-time partner at the San Francisco office of Constantine Cannon and represented whistleblowers in the United States for over 20 years. In July 2017, she moved to London for three years to start the firm’s international whistleblower practice, which she oversaw until she left Constantine Cannon to found Whistleblowers Partners. Mary now represents a growing number of foreign whistleblowers who want to reveal wrongdoing abroad that has a connection to the United States. She also frequently assists whistleblowers in submitting claims to foreign authorities, such as the National Tax Service of Korea, the Ontario Securities Commission, the Canada Revenue Agency, and His Majesty’s Revenue and Customs.
